The story of St. Bernadette Worded Simply for Children

Isn’t it frustrating wanting to teach your children about Catholic saints like St. Bernadette, but upon a quick google search your mind is left spinning?

So many big words. So many dates and geographical locations that will go right over your kids’ heads.

You don’t have time to sit there and decipher a 5,000 word Wikipedia article while you make breakfast.

All you want is something quick and to the point; a short, 30-second read that hits the main points so you can tell your children about St. Bernadette before the baby starts crying and the kids start poking eachother. Right?

Here you go!

St. Bernadette was 14 years old and preparing to receive her first communion when she went with her sister and friend to collect firewood.

The two girls crossed a stream, but Bernadette stayed behind (she had bad asthma) and was worried the cold water would make it worse. Just then, she heard a rustling behind her and saw a beautiful lady in a white robe with a blue ribbon wrapped around her waist!

Bernadette knelt down and prayed a Rosary. The beautiful lady left. Bernadette asked her sister and friend if they had seen anyone, but they hadn’t!

Mother Mary appeared to St. Bernadette 17 more times during her life.
