The Best Catholic Baptism Gifts (To Give and Receive!)

Searching high and low for the Catholic baby Baptism gifts and coming up short? It’s can be SO HARD trying to find that perfect Baptism gift for boys and girls.

A massive occasion such as being cleansed of your original sin and OFFICIALLY becoming a child of God is a pretty big deal.

Thankfully, after six children, we’ve received our fair share of awesome baptism gifts that I’ve been able to copy and give as gifts to others.

If you’re looking for Catholic Baptism gifts from Godparents, you’re in the right place. We just attended our Godson’s baptism, so I wanted to share a post of the gifts we gave him. SPOILER ALERT: We’ve been given every single one of these gifts for our own children’s baptisms! (I’m a copy catter, like I said.)

(Looking for gifts for older children getting baptized? I’ve got a few here! )

The Best 5 Baptism Gifts for Catholic Children

1.) A silicone (chewy) rosary from Chewslife!

I just love this company so much. They also offer decades!

2.) Baptism Photo Frame

Baptism photo frames are one of my most cherished items in our home! Each of our kids have one, and we put a picture of them with their Godparents on their baptism day in it. The frame goes in their room, either on the dresser or bookshelf, right where they can see it. I can’t tell you how many conversations these pictures have sparked!

This picture frame is especially useful if your child’s Godparents live far away and they don’t get to see them that often. Having a picture up front and center really helps strengthen that bond and give familiarity of faces as they grow up.

3.) Wooden Crucifix

You didn’t think I’d leave this off the list, did you? What’s a baptism without a gifted Crucifix?!

Crucifixes never go out of style. It’s Catholic tradition to hang a crucifix above every doorway in your home, at least above the bedrooms. If the parents already have one above the child’s doorway, they can save the one you gift the child for when they grow up and get their own house someday. We have crucifixes hanging around our house that were gifted to my husband when HE was a baby (how sweet is that?!) The more Crucifixes you can gift a child, the better!

You can even customize some Crucifixes you purchase online to include the child’s name, baptism date, special prayer, etc!

4.) Prayer Cards

If there’s one thing Catholics love, it’s their prayer cards. There are so many options of prayer cards to gift a child on their baptism.

You can give them a baptism-specific prayer card, like the one below, or prayer cards with the saint they were named after, or guardian angel prayer cards, or holy family prayer cards, or Mary+baby prayer cards, or Joseph+baby prayer cards…the possibilities are endless!

I love receiving prayer cards with my child’s saint they were named after as gifts.

5.) Catholic Record Book

This one might be my favorite. It gives spaces to write in all the baby’s birth stats, first visitors, family tree, doctors, sicknesses, favorite things, sacrament details, memorable “firsts” all the way up through grade school. There’s even a page dedicated to the details of baby’s first Mass! We have one of these record books for every child and let me tell you, as a sentimental mom who can’t remember what I ate for breakfast, I absolutely CHERISH them.

Saint Doll

What about a soft saint doll from Shining Light Dolls?

Perhaps one that correlates that with their name like this St. Faustina doll?

Sacrament Storage Box

I know at first it looks a little crazy and large.

Trust me when I say your Godchild’s parents will thank you.

We put allllll of the things in these boxes: candles, outfits, trinkets, gifts, certificates, holy water, cards, pictures. It is such a convenient storage area to house the important things they get after receiving their sacraments. You know, the ones that you have NO idea where to put or what to do with.

I like to pull the box out on the anniversary of the sacrament and go through it with my children. It allows them to sort of relive the day in a tangible way. There’s nothing my daughter loves more than looking at her baptism dress and proceeding to dress her baby doll up in it (with mom’s supervision of course).

So there you have it, a few great Catholic gifts for your child, grandchild or Godchild!

There are so many great gifts out there for baptisms. What’s the best gift you’ve ever given/received for the most important day of a Catholic child’s life? I’d love to hear from you! Email me anytime at sam@cultivatingcatholics.com!
